SUMMER RUN GUIDE SERVICE

FISHING REPORT

8-23-10
The weather has cooled off the last few days and the fishing has perked up. We have had good fishing in the mornings with fair fishing in the evenings. It's still not easy but much better than it has been.
7-30-10
The fishing has remained slow but there are some fish in the fly water. We have had to work hard for each one but the river is in perfect shape and the weather has cooled off the last few days. We are hoping for a good rest of the summer and are normal good fall fishing.
6-2-10
The fishing on the N Umpqua has been slow but should pick up soon. We had a good push of early fish but they went up Steamboat creek with the high water we had this spring. We are expecting some warm weather this week that should move the fish into the fly water.
5-18-10
We are gearing up for the summer season. We are going to start on the McKenzie fishing for trout and the Willamette for summer steelhead. Jeff are McKenzie expert has had some good days on the lower McKenzie and it should only get better with the the green caddis hatch. The Willamette has been spotty. The counts are good but the water has been going up and down. When the river levels stabilize the fishing will be good. We will start the N Umpqua steelhead fishing the last week of June. Most years it really picks up after the first week of July.
4-4-10
The fishing has been good with the rains. I have some open dates but I am going to stop fishing on the12th.
3-11-10
Not much to report. The river is low and cold the fishing is slow. It will pick up good with some weather. On the bright side Mike picked up this 38x19 today.

3-4-10
Its still low and slow but today they perked up a bit. We landed five with two being large bucks. one 35x18.5 and a 35.5 x 17 the 35x18.5 photo below.

3-2-10
The river is low and the fishing is slow but it should pick up with a good rain.
2-16-10
We had a little rain that bumped the river up a bit. Fished with friends Kirk and Mike and picked up a couple of nice hens 35"and 28" photos below. The river is on the drop but there is rain in the forecast for the 22nd.

2-2-10
The fishing has been slow up in the fly water. The river has been low and clear and cold. It should pick up mid February. We need a good gully washer to get some fish moving.
1-4-10
The holidays are over and we are back on the river. The fishing has been good the last few days. We have seen a mixture of fall run and early winter fish. We hooked eight the last two days with three of then in the 14 to 15 pound range. The river was out on the 1st but dropped back in to shape the 2nd. Below is a photo of a nice fall run buck I picked up the last day of  09. 34"-18"
