Its still low and slow but today they perked up a bit. We landed five with two being large bucks. one 35x18.5 and a 35.5 x 17 the 35x18.5 photo below.

3-2-10
The river is low and the fishing is slow but it should pick up with a good rain.
2-16-10
We had a little rain that bumped the river up a bit. Fished with friends Kirk and Mike and picked up acouple of nice hens 35"and 28" photos below. The river is on the drop but there is rain in the forcast for the 22nd.

2-2-10
The fishing has been slow up in the fly water. The river has been low and clear and cold. It should pick up mid February. We need a good gully washer to get some fish moving.
1-4-10
The holidays are over and we are back on the river. The fishing has been good the last few days. We have seen a mixture of fall run and early winter fish. We hooked eight the last two days with three of then in the 14 to 15 pound range. The river was out on the 1st but dropped back in to shape the 2nd. Below is a photo of a nice fall run buck I picked up the last day of 09. 34"-18"

11-11-09
We are now booking winter steelhead trips. We start January one on the N Umpqua, the weather is cold but the fishing is generally good. Scroll down and view some of last years January fish. We fish winter fish through April 15th with the biggest fish showing up late February and March. If you would like a March date try to book early these dates fill fast.
10-29-09
The fishing has been good the last few days. I fished with Mark and Brett today and we landed six. The river went up a little and the fish perked up.
10-7-09
The fishing has been fair. The last four days Jeff and I fished with Jay, David, Walt and Felix. We landed a fish per person per day. Not the best fishing but not bad. When we get a bump in the water the fishing should get much better.watch the weather.
9-7-09
The fishing has been good. The recent weather moved the fish around and perked them up. We are going back to high pressure but the water is cool and the fishing should remain good.
8-15-09
The road is open but there is no parking from Susan Creek to Steamboat Creek. ODOT said the parking should open on Monday the 17th but there are no promises. The fishing has been fair to good. The water temps have been good and the weather has been cool.
8-2-09
The Williams fire is still burning but the weather has cooled the last few days this should help. The road is closed at Susan Creek on the west side and Dry creek on the east side. The forest service is going to try to open the road the first few days of next week but they are not making any promises. We have been fishing the lower river and seeing some nice fish. The fishing should get better with the cooler weather.
7-25-09
Still slow but we have seen fish most mornings. It should pick up when the heat spell is over.
7-18-09
Not much to report. The fishing is slow but there are some fish around.
6-28-09
I am on the N Umpqua the fishing has been good for June. We have seen fish most sessions. The fish have been bright and hot but not allot of them.
6-21-09
Still up on the McKenzie. The trout fishing was been good but I am on my way to the N Umpqua on the 24th for some steelhead. Willamette specialist Jeff Carr has been getting steelhead on the middle fork so if you are in Eugene give me a call and I will hook you up with him. Stay tuned to see if there are some fish in the Ump.
6-1-09
The summer season is here! We are going to start the season on the world famous McKenzie River. These trips are drift boat trips for red side rainbows. We will also be on the Middle Fork Willamette. These trips are drift boat trips for steelhead. The Willamette steelhead are all hatchery fish but they are some of the hardest fighting fish we see all summer. We start on the N Umpqua June 1 for trout the 15th for steelhead. Often over looked as a trout fishery the N Umpqua can be very productive for rainbows, browns and cuts. If you would like more info on these trips feel free to call or email.
3-24-09
The fishing this winter has been slow on the Umpqua system. I think its been slow mainly because the ODFW opened the main Umpqua to killing wild steelhead which started the winter of 05. This winter is the return from that winter. The main Umpqua was low that year and the fish stacked up below the forks and the floaters hammered them hard for two months. Put that together with unfavorable ocean conditions and you have tough fishing. Last September the Steamboaters and local guides got the regs changed to no kill on wild fish system wide but the battle is not over. Some of the local anglers are pushing for a winter hatchery run on the N Umpqua this would degrade the wild stock and we could lose are strain of big wild fish. We have to stay on the ODFW to keep are present regs and keep the hatchery fish off the North. On the lighter side we have seen nice fish most days.

3-5-09
The fishing was been a little slow but we have been getting some nice fish. You just have to keep at it and cover water.

2-27-09
The river dropped and turned green today. I fished with a friend today we hooked six landed three, photos below center photo is a 35 inch hen. There seems to be some knew fish in the runs and the river should be in good shape for a few days.

I have not been fishing the last week but I will be back on the water in a few days. I have talked with some anglers on the Umpqua system and it sounds slow but there is some weather on the way which should pick things up.
